When can I stop taking Edurant?

You can stop taking Edurant (rilpivirine) when your doctor says it is safe and recommended for you to do so. Do not stop taking Edurant without talking to your doctor first.

Edurant is prescribed with other medicines to treat infection with the human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1), the virus that can cause acquired immune deficiency syndrome or AIDS. In studies, this combination therapy seemed to slow the progression of HIV infection. Stopping Edurant therapy suddenly could cause levels of HIV virus to rise quickly in the blood. If you need to stop taking Edurant, talk to your doctor about the safest way for you to do so.
