What are the side effects of nelfinavir?

Side effects associated with nelfinavir include: nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain, gas, rash and loss of appetite. Contact your doctor if you develop the following side effects: frequent urination, weakness, blurred vision, extreme hunger or thirst. Untreated diabetes can lead to diabetic ketoacidosis, which is characterized by dry mouth, shortness of breath, decreased consciousness, confusion, vomiting, flushed face, unusual bleeding or bruising and fruity-smelling breath. Seek medical attention if you develop symptoms of an allergic reaction, including hives, difficulty swallowing, itching, chest tightness, difficulty breathing or swelling of the tongue, lips, face and mouth. Other side effects may include: chills, sore throat, fever, mood changes or suicidal thoughts.  A chemical in nelfinavir has been linked to cancer in laboratory animals; the production of this medication has been altered to limit this side effect in humans. The potential risk to humans remains unclear and is believed to be higher in children or pregnant women.
