How soon after I start taking adefovir dipivoxil will my symptoms improve?

Many people with Hepatitis B infections do not experience any symptoms from their infections, so you may not feel any differently once you start taking adefovir.  However, this doesn't mean that the medication isn't working. Adefovir doesn't cure Hepatitis B infections. The drug may lower the amount of Hepatitis B virus in your body and interfere with the microbe's replication and ability to infect new liver cells. Positive changes in certain laboratory tests may be detected at 48 weeks of use. It's unknown if adefovir reduces your long-term chances of getting liver cancer or liver damage (cirrhosis) from chronic Hepatitis B.
