Side effects of abacavir include: abdominal pain, cough, diarrhea, fever or chills, headaches/migraine, joint pain, mouth ulcers, muscle aches or weakness, nausea, rash, severe peeling skin, shortness of breath, sickly feeling, skin tingling or burning, trouble sleeping, sore throat, swelling, tiredness, vomiting, weight gain or loss. Call your doctor if your side effects persist or are severe. Call 911 and get immediate medical attention if you have symptoms of a severe allergic reaction. These symptoms may include skin rash, hives, itching, facial and tongue swelling along with difficulty breathing.
