Adefovir is a Pregnancy Category C medication, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. This means that a risk to your developing baby can't be ruled out. Animal studies have shown some risk of fetal malformation from very high doses of this drug during pregnancy. But there are no studies yet in humans. Use this drug during your pregnancy only if its benefits to your health outweigh the potential harm to your fetus.
