Is indinavir safe for breast-feeding women?

Indinavir has not been studied in breastfeeding women, so it is not known if it is passed into human breast milk. Because the risks are not known, indinavir is not recommended for use while breastfeeding. Additionally, it is recommended that women who are HIV positive not breastfeed infants because the virus can pass into the milk.
