How can taking tipranavir affect body fat?

The distribution of body fat can change in people taking tipranavir (Aptivus), which is used to treat human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). You may see fat shift to your stomach or breasts, or to the back of your neck and shoulders, creating a condition called buffalo hump.

You may also lose fat in some places. The most common places to lose fat include the buttocks, arms, legs and face.

Let your doctor know if you see any of these changes.
