How does Epivir affect children?

Children taking Epivir (lamivudine) have experienced serious side effects that are different than those in adults. Some children taking Epivir have experienced peripheral neuropathy, which causes feelings of pain and numbness in the extremities. In addition, children have also experienced pancreatic inflammation, known as pancreatitis. Both are significant problems. If your child is taking Epivir, be sure to keep appointments with your child's doctor so that his or her condition and possible complications can be monitored.
