Can Edurant cure HIV or AIDS?

Edurant cannot cure human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or the condition it can cause, acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS).

Edurant (rilpivirine) is a drug that is approved for treating adults who have HIV infection and who have not been treated in the past. When used in combination with other HIV medicines, Edurant can block an enzyme called reverse transcriptase that the virus needs to multiply. In studies, Edurant, when taken with other HIV drugs, reduced the amount of HIV virus in the blood, boosted immune system activity, and slowed progression of the infection. Talk to your doctor for more information about Edurant or HIV infection.
