There is still a lot that is not known about adefovir (Hepsera). So you should bottle feed with baby formula rather than breastfeed. It is not known whether adefovir can pass into breast milk. It is unclear whether the drug can harm the health of a developing baby. Because of the potential risk of serious side effects, the maker of adefovir recommends that new mothers either avoid breastfeeding or stop taking the drug.
