Side effects of Diastat can include: diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, headaches, nervousness, stomach pain and stuffy nose. Severe side effects include: allergic reactions (rash, hives, itching), anxiety, hallucinations, mental or mood changes, muscle spasms or twitching, new or worsened seizures, overexcitement, shortness of breath, sleep disturbances and wheezing. Diastat should be used with caution in patients who are addiction-prone or using antidepressants.
