Patients taking buspirone may experience drowsiness. Do not drive or operate heavy equipment while taking buspirone. Patients taking other medications should be carefully monitored by a doctor to control the risk of drug interactions. Pregnant and nursing women should not take buspirone. It may harm a developing fetus or nursing infant. In rare cases, serious side effects include: seizures, irregular heartbeat and suicidal thoughts or actions.
