What are the side effects of halobetasol propionate?

Halobetasol propionate may cause certain side effects in some people. In rare cases, halobetasol propionate may cause a severe allergic reaction that leads to difficulty breathing, swelling in the face or throat, and hives. If you develop these symptoms, get medical attention right away. If you absorb too much halobetasol propionate through your skin, you may develop symptoms like muscle weakness, weight loss or gain, vision problems, and severe headache. Other serious side effects of halobetasol propionate may include severe irritation or swelling of the skin, excessive hair growth, or skin discoloration.  Less severe side effects include temporary itching, burning, stinging, or dryness of the affected skin. Other side effects may be possible, so talk to your doctor if any new or unusual symptoms develop while using halobetasol propionate.
