What are the side effects of clocortolone?

Common side effects are itching and dry skin. These generally do not require a doctor's visit unless they become severe. More serious side effects include:

  • increased hair growth
  • infected or swollen hair follicles
  • weight gain
  • facial changes
  • weakness
  • skin reactions like peeling, irritation, cracking, changes in skin around the mouth, burning, bumpy rash, acne, color change, thinning or softening

If you are using clocortolone and experience these or other worrisome side effects, you should see a doctor as soon as possible. Any signs of severe allergic reaction, such as labored breathing, chest pain or facial swelling, require immediate emergency medical care.
