What should I know about clobetasol shampoo before using it?

People who have rosacea, perioral dermatitis or allergies to the ingredients in clobetasol shampoo or similar medications should not use it. Children and teenagers under 18 years of age should not use this medication due to the increased risks of developmental problems. If you are prescribed clobetasol shampoo, only put it on your scalp. Do not put it on your groin, armpits or face. Clobetasol shampoo could be dangerous if used incorrectly. Never ingest it or overuse it, as it could cause problems for your adrenal or pituitary gland. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should discuss with their doctor the possible risks they would be taking by using clobetasol shampoo. Be sure to discuss your medical history with your doctor thoroughly before using clobetasol shampoo, especially if you suffer from Cushing's syndrome, skin infection, hyperglycemia, diabetes or open wounds where the drug is needed. Lastly, ask your dermatologist or doctor for tips on how to reduce your chances for side effects, especially if you also use any other products on your scalp.
