What should I know about clobetasol scalp application?

People who have rosacea, perioral dermatitis or allergies to the ingredients in clobetasol solution for scalp application or similar medications, should not use it. If you are prescribed clobetasol scalp application, only put it on your scalp. Do not put it on your groin, armpits or face. Clobetasol solution could be dangerous if used incorrectly. Never ingest it, overuse it or cover it with bandages after you apply it, as it could cause problems for your adrenal or pituitary gland. Also, be careful to keep it away from excessive heat or flames; the alcohol in the medication could ignite.

Pregnant and breastfeeding women should discuss with their doctors the risks they would be taking by using clobetasol solution before doing so, as should parents of children under 12 years of age. Be sure to discuss your medical history with your doctor thoroughly before using clobetasol solution, especially if you suffer from Cushing's syndrome, skin infection, hyperglycemia, diabetes or open wounds where the drug is needed. Lastly, ask your dermatologist or doctor for tips on how to reduce your chances for side effects, especially if you also use any other products on your scalp.
