Is hydrocortisone safe if I'm pregnant?

If you are pregnant, talk with your doctor before using hydrocortisone (Anusol-HC, Cortaid, Cortizone and others). Hydrocortisone is a steroid medication used to treat itchy rashes, inflammation and irritation in a number of skin conditions.

It’s not clear how hydrocortisone affects pregnancy and a developing fetus. Experts recommend that it be used by pregnant women only if the benefits clearly outweigh the potential risks. If you are pregnant or planning to be, talk to your doctor before using hydrocortisone.
