Can I use hydrocortisone if I am breastfeeding?

If you are breastfeeding, talk with your doctor before using hydrocortisone (Anusol-HC, Cortaid, Cortizone and others). Hydrocortisone is a steroid medication used to treat itchy rashes, inflammation and irritation in a number of skin conditions. Women who are breastfeeding should use the smallest amount possible and should avoid letting the medication come in contact with the baby’s skin.
