How do medications treat anthrax?

Antibiotics, such as doxycycline or ciprofloxacin, are used to treat anthrax. They attack the bacteria which causes the disease. Antibiotics may be given individually, or in combinations depending on each case. The age and general health of the person with the illness affects the type and amount of medications prescribed. Standard treatment may last 60 days.
