What is pramoxine?

Pramoxine is an over-the-counter topical anesthetic that relieves temporary pain and itching caused by insect bites, poison ivy, poison oak and poison sumac. It also soothes minor burns, cuts and scrapes.

Pramoxine is available as a gel, cream, foam, liquid solution and lotion, and is sold by the following brand names: Blistex Pro Relief, Caladryl Clear, Fleet Pain Relief Pad, Gold Bond Anti-itch, Itch-X, PrameGel, Prax, Proctofoam, Tronolane, Tronothane, Phicon, Epipram, Hemorr-oxine, Anest Hemor, Soothe-It Plus Hemmorhoidal Pad, C Allergy Clear, Calaclear, Proctozone-P, Summer's Eve Anti-Itch, Sarna Sensitive, Sarna Ultra, Pramox and Curasore.
