What is enflurane?

Enflurane is the generic name for the prescription brand-name drug Ethrane. It is often used to relieve pain during vaginal childbirth. Enflurane can also be used with other general anesthetics to relieve pain during Cesarean section childbirth. In both cases, enflurane works by blocking your ability to feel pain without making you lose consciousness. This is a liquid medication that is inhaled via a vaporizer. It has a mild and sweet odor. Enflurane is known as a general inhalation anesthetic medication.
