Bupivacaine injection is a long-acting local anesthetic, or numbing substance, that is used to block pain, usually during surgery or other invasive procedures. Bupivacaine is the active ingredient in the brand name drugs Marcaine and Sensorcaine. Injection should be given only by a physician or trained healthcare provider.
