How does lidocaine interact with other medications or foods?

Tell your doctor about all the medications you are taking, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications and supplements, before taking lidocaine. Lidocaine definitely should not be taken with dofetilide and monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs). Other drugs that may interact with lidocaine include: alternative anesthetics, phenytoin, procarbazine and medications for anxiety, blood pressure, depression, heart disease irregular heartbeat or psychotic disturbances. While it is not necessarily an interaction, you should not eat while your mouth is numb from lidocaine. This can cause injury.
