How does AndroGel interact with other medications or foods?

If you take AndroGel, a prescription testosterone gel, with certain other drugs, one drug could raise, lower or change the effects of the other. For example, if you have kidney or heart disease, taking AndroGel along with some steroid medications can cause your body to retain fluid and swell.  Make sure your doctor is aware of the prescription and non-prescription medications, herbs, supplements that you are taking before starting Androgel.

Some medications that may interact with Androgel are:

  • Antidiabitic medications
  • Blood thinners
  • Corticosteroids
  • Cyclosporine
  • Epoetin alpha
