What should I know about Demerol before taking it?

Demerol can be addictive. It should only be used exactly as prescribed and never without a prescription. If you abruptly stop using Demerol you may experience uncomfortable symptoms of withdrawal. This medication has also been known to affect reaction time as well as your ability to think clearly. Consuming alcohol while taking Demerol can be extremely dangerous and sometimes even fatal. Over time, you may build up a tolerance to Demerol. If the dosage you are taking no longer seems to be effective you should contact your doctor immediately. Under no circumstances should you increase your dosage without talking to your doctor first.
