Are there any risks in taking acetaminophen-codeine?

The risks associated with taking acetaminophen-codeine include possible liver damage if taken in excess. Do not exceed the prescribed dosage. People who drink more than two alcoholic beverages per day, have done so in the past, or have pre-existing liver problems should speak with their doctor. Acetaminophen-codeine also can cause drowsiness, especially if taken in combination with other sedating drugs. Tell your doctor about any other medications you take and operate motor vehicles and machinery with caution. Codeine is a potentially addictive substance. Be careful to use the drug appropriately and keep your prescription away from children.
