Does amblyopia run in families?

It is believed that amblyopia (lazy eye) can be passed down by parents. This is not the only cause of the vision condition though, so other factors may be to blame. Early diagnosis is important, so it's a good idea to have your child's vision checked regularly, especially if other family members have developed lazy eye.
