What is hippotherapy?

Hippotherapy comes from the Greek, meaning treatment with a horse. Specially trained physical, occupational and speech therapists provide this type of therapy for patients with movement dysfunction and many other types of disabilities and disorders.

The gait of the horse provides a rhythmic, repetitive movement, which mimics the human movement of walking. This is used as a therapeutic tool that can improve functional limitations, neuro-musculoskeletal dysfunction, and postural control.
