Are people born with allergies, or can they develop them later in life?

People are not born with allergies specifically. They can be born with a certain genetic make-up that puts them at higher risk of developing allergies later in life, or at any point in life. Plants or foods they are exposed to can have an effect on whether their allergy genes get turned on, and whether or not they will develop an allergy.

People can be born with allergies, and people can develop allergies later in life. Some people are born with a genetic predisposition to allergies, but that allergy gene may not be turned on until later in adulthood.
