Does alcohol kill brain cells?

Alcohol may cause slurred speech, as well as blurry vision and impaired motor skills and judgment, but it does not kill brain cells.

However, alcohol may damage the ends of neurons, which are known as dendrites. This can cause problems in conveying messages between the neurons.

So, while the cell is not damaged, but the way the cell communicates with other cells is altered.

This damage, researchers say, is mostly reversible.
