How does Proair HFA interact with other medications?

Dr. Jeanne Morrison, PhD
Family Practitioner

Proair HFA is sometimes used in combination with other medications to treat and prevent breathing problems related to asthma, bronchitis, and lung diseases like emphysema and chronic obstructive lung disorder (COPD). If your doctor prescribes Proair in addition to other medications, they may have to adjust the dosing to reduce the risk of drug interaction. To further reduce the risk of serious drug reaction when using Proair HFA, tell your doctor if you are or have recently used antidepressants, beta-blockers, MAO inhibitors, digoxin, diuretics, cold medicines, sinus medications, weight-loss pills, or other inhalation medications. Proair HFA can also interact with over-the-counter medicines and supplements. It's important to tell your doctor about all medications and herbal or dietary supplements you are using.
