Adrenal gland disorders can interfere with your body's ability to cope with physiological stress. This means that if you suffer from an illness, injury, or infection, or have surgery or experience other physiological stress, you may be at a higher risk for dangerous complications. Death can even occur if you have an adrenal gland disorder and your experience a physiologically stressful event, such as an injury. This happens when your body is not able to produce the cortisol it needs to cope with stress, and you suffer and adrenal crisis.
