How do I manage my acromegaly on a daily basis?

Dr. Jeanne Morrison, PhD
Family Practitioner
Many of the treatments for acromegaly, such as surgery, radiation therapy, and drug therapy, do not necessarily require a daily regimen. In fact, some medications only need to be taken monthly. However, acromegaly does cause symptoms and other health problems that may require attention on a daily basis. Patients will need to work with their doctor to manage high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, vision problems, joint pain, weakness, headaches, excessive sweating, erectile dysfunction, carpal tunnel syndrome, or other conditions that may develop from acromegaly.
