What are self-care remedies for pregnancy acne?

Dr. Mehmet Oz, MD
Cardiology (Cardiovascular Disease)
There are many effective self-care remedies for acne with pregnancy. Here are some to try:
  • Wash your skin twice a day.
  • Wash your skin if you are perspiring or after exercise.
  • Use only mild or gentle cleaners and soaps.
  • Do not rub or scrub your skin; use gentle strokes with your fingertips.
  • Wash your hair regularly so it does not add additional oil to your skin.
  • Use precautions in the sun and use a broad-spectrum sunscreen that protects from both ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet B (UVB) rays.
  • Use a sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 or higher.
  • Read all product labels to make sure they do not clog pores.
  • Select skin and hair products that are oil-free, noncomedogenic and nonacnegenic, which means not likely to cause comedones (a medical term describing pimples).
