In general, there are certain procedures that have been used in the past for treating acne scars including microdermabrasion as well chemical peeling.  Retin A in the past has been used.  However, Accutane has been very successful with the dermatologists in reducing cystic acne which may also greatly reduce further acne scarring.  Seeking a board-certified dermatologist will help to evaluate your acne scars and determine the best elective procedure.
