You can't prevent baby acne on a newborn, but you can treat it with home care. Within the first few weeks after birth, many babies get tiny red bumps on their face. Baby acne may look more serious than it is, and it does go away in time. Treatment of baby acne usually consists of washing the infant's skin -- but not over-washing. You can bathe the baby every two to three days with lukewarm (never hot) water and use a gentle baby cleanser or very mild soap.
