When can I stop taking Capoten?

You can stop taking Capoten (captopril) when you and your doctor decide that you no longer need it or if you develop side effects that are too difficult to manage. This drug, which is an angiotensin-converting (ACE) inhibitor for treating high blood pressure and certain heart conditions, is not safe to take during pregnancy. If you discover you're pregnant while you're taking Capoten, you may need to stop taking it. Talk to your doctor before you quit taking Capoten for any reason.
