What are the side effects of Altace?

While taking Altace (ramipril) you may experience headaches, dizziness or develop a cough. People taking medication for high blood pressure may feel tired for a few weeks after first taking the medication. If these side effects don't dissipate or become worse, contact your doctor. Do not drive or perform other potentially hazardous tasks until you know how the medication will affect you. Alcohol, hot weather or exercise can make the dizziness associated with taking Altace worse. Also, let your doctor know right away if you experience signs of an allergic reaction, such as hives, itchy rash, swelling around the mouth or face or chest tightness and difficulty breathing. Other side effects that may require immediate medical attention include: signs of angioedema, including swelling, trouble swallowing or breathing or hoarseness; chest pain; dark urine or yellowing of the skin or eyes; trouble urinating; fainting; signs of an infection, such as fever, chills or sore throat; irregular heartbeat; seizures; stomach pain; nausea or vomiting; severe dizziness; or lightheadedness.
