What should I avoid while taking Mavik?

If you take Mavik (trandolapril), which treats high blood pressure and improves heart function after a heart attack, avoid excessive sweating and low fluid intake. Either may cause a drop in blood pressure and can lead to fainting or dizziness.

You should avoid taking medications or using salt substitutes that contain potassium, which can elevate blood potassium levels and cause a dangerous condition called hyperkalemia.

You should also avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how Mavik affects you. Do not drink alcohol while you're on Mavik, because the combination can make you drowsy or dizzy.
