What is Vasotec?

Vasotec (enalapril) is a prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure or heart failure. Typically, people are prescribed one or two tablets per day, often starting on a low dose that is gradually increased.

Vasotec does not cure either high blood pressure or heart failure, so it's important that you continue to take it even if you feel well. It decreases the level of certain chemicals that tighten blood vessels. This allows blood to flow more smoothly so the heart can pump blood more efficiently.
