What is perindopril?

Perindopril is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and help prevent heart attacks for people with coronary heart disease. This drug stops your body from developing certain chemicals that constrict (narrow) your blood vessels, which improves blood flow. Perindopril belongs to a class of drugs called angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. Perindopril is taken by mouth in tablet form. Brand names for perindopril include Aceon.
