What should I avoid while using enalaprilat?

While you're using the blood pressure medication enalaprilat, you should avoid driving or doing other dangerous tasks until you know whether it makes you dizzy or drowsy or causes vision problems.

You should avoid drinking alcohol while you're on enalaprilat. Alcohol increases side effects such as drowsiness and dizziness.

Enalaprilat may make your skin more sensitive to the sun, so you should avoid staying out in the sun too long. Be sure to wear sunscreen and protective clothing while outside.

Women should avoid getting pregnant while on enalaprilat because this drug can cause serious harm or even be fatal to a developing fetus. Women should avoid breastfeeding, too, because enalaprilat passes into breast milk and may cause serious side effects in a nursing baby.

You should avoid using a salt substitute that contains potassium while you're on enalaprilat unless otherwise directed by your doctor.

To prevent light-headedness and fainting, do not stand or sit up quickly. Instead, get up slowly, first resting your feet on the floor and then standing.

Enalaprilat can interact with a number of medications. Before you start treatment, tell your doctor about all the medications you take (prescription and nonprescription), as well as any dietary supplements. Once you're on enalaprilat, avoid taking any new ones without first talking to your doctor.
