If I am pregnant, is it safe to take Capoten?

It's not safe to take Capoten (captopril) if you're pregnant, especially if you're in your second and third trimester. Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors such as Capoten, which is prescribed to treat high blood pressure and certain heart problems, can cause injury or death to a developing fetus. If you become pregnant while taking Capoten, contact your doctor immediately.
