Can I use Zestril if I am taking lithium?

You might be able to take Zestril (lisinopril) if you are on lithium. Lisinopril is used to treat high blood pressure and some heart problems. Make sure your doctor knows you take lithium (Eskalith, Lithobid), which is used to treat bipolar disorder. Taking both lithium and lisinopril may boost levels of lithium in the blood to an unsafe degree. Your doctor will monitor your serum lithium levels closely to determine if you need to discontinue either drug.
