Can I use Mavik if I am taking lithium?

If you are taking lithium, be cautious about taking Mavik (trandolapril), which treats hypertension and improves heart function after a heart attack. Mavik is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor -- and if you take any ACE inhibitor along with lithium, it can make lithium levels climb dangerously high. The risk of this is greater if you also take a diuretic. If you are taking both medications, your doctor is likely to monitor your blood levels of lithium.
