The blood pressure drug Mavik (trandolapril) is actually prescribed to treat one type of heart disease -- it improves heart function in people who have developed heart failure after a heart attack. Still, If you have a history of heart disease, you should be cautious about taking Mavik (trandolapril). Mavik may make your blood pressure fall too low. In people with heart disease, that can aggravate ischemia -- insufficient blood supply because of narrowing or blockage of an artery. Hypotension, or low blood pressure, is especially likely if you have congestive heart failure.
