How soon after taking Captopril will my symptoms improve?

It usually takes a few weeks of regular captopril doses to decrease blood pressure. Captopril does not cure high blood pressure, so people taking it will have to take it continuously, possibly for the rest of their life. Many people with high blood pressure do not have any symptoms so they may not feel any different once they start taking captopril. Those taking captopril, even those whose symptoms improve significantly, should continue with regularly scheduled checkups with their doctor to monitor progress.
