What should I know about Altace before taking it?

Before taking Altace, discuss your complete medical history with your doctor. This is especially important if you have a history of heart, blood vessel, blood flow, bone marrow, kidney or liver problems. Tell your doctor if you have had a heart attack or a stroke. Tell him or her if you have diabetes or an autoimmune disease such as rheumatoid arthritis. Tell your doctor if you have low blood volume or are dehydrated or if you have high blood potassium levels or low blood sodium levels. Let your doctor know if you currently receive dialysis treatments or have scheduled any major surgery.

Altace may lower your immunity, so take extra care to protect yourself when exposed to sick people.

Altace capsules may be less effective for people of African descent.
