What happens in the second trimester of pregnancy?

In the second trimester, new symptoms, such as leg cramps, stretch marks, and shortness of breath, may occur. Your belly and breasts may become larger, and you may experience occasional Braxton-Hicks uterine contractions. You will likely continue to see your doctor to make sure your baby is growing and developing normally. You'll feel your baby moving, and become familiar with the sound of your baby's heartbeat. You may want to schedule childbirth education classes during the second trimester.
