    Our Mission

    Serving Humanity to Honor God.

Chartered in 1955, Methodist Hospital is the pioneer facility of the now world renowned South Texas Medical Center. Opened in 1963, Methodist Hospital has grown to be the flagship facility of the Methodist Healthcare System, San Antonio's largest and most preferred health care provider. Methodist Hospital offers a broad range of specialties including cardiology, oncology, emergency medicine, neurosciences, maternity care, gynecology and orthopedics. The hospital is currently undergoing a major expansion to meet the increasing demand for services. This landmark expansion project includes significant upgrades in areas including cancer and heart services, obstetrics, general surgery, neurosurgery, emergency care and pediatric services. It is the largest construction project Methodist Healthcare has undertaken and will be ongoing from 2014 through 2017. The hospital's emergency room will increase to 48 treatment rooms with the expansion.

The Methodist Hospital Emergency Room Methodist Hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission in stroke care and is designated as an accredited Chest Pain Center. It is the only emergency room in South Texas that has a cardiologist in the hospital 24 hours a day, seven days a week to treat emergent and non-emergent cardiac patients. This cardio-hospitalist program is an award-winning program, changing the face of cardiac care in our community.
